Club Red to Host Baseball Tailgate on Sunday

FRESNO, Calif.-- The Fresno State Student-Athlete Alumni group Club Red will be hosting a tailgate prior to the Diamond 'Dogs hosting San Jose this Sunday, March 22 at 1:05 p.m. at Beiden Field.
"It's such a privilege to be able to compete in college athletics and especially in a community like Fresno where there is so much support," said Club Red President Gena Strang-Behrens. "Launching Club Red is a great way to bring so many former athletes back to get reconnected, especially at a time when there is so much energy on campus. We look forward to seeing alumni at the baseball game on Sunday!"
The tailgate will take place in the Beiden Field Outfield Pavilion starting at 11 a.m. prior to the first pitch. Free food and beverages will be provided to everyone in attendance.

Though Club Red has been in existence for a few years, this is the first year the group has had an Executive Board in place. Strang-Behrens and the board have created a bold vision of what they would like Club Red to represent. They believe while it's important to reengage our former student-athletes, there is also a strong sense of giving back to our current student-athletes, including opportunities to donate to the scholarship fund, recognizing their many great achievements, community service and outreach, and personal and professional mentoring, to name just a few.
The baseball tailgate this Sunday will be the first of two events Club Red will host this spring. The student-athlete alumni group also plans to kick off their First Annual Club Red Mixer on April 25 from 3:30-6 p.m. at the Thiesen Dueker Suite Deck at Bulldog Stadium. This special event is $30 and is open to the public with all proceeds going to the Athletic Department general scholarship fund and Valley Children's Hospital.
