No. 37 `Dogs Blank Nevada on Senior Day

FRESNO, Calif. -- In their final match at Spalding G. Wathen Tennis Center, seniors Aishwarya Agrawal, Tanya Murtagh and Anne Susdorf each walked off of the court with straight-set wins as No. 37 Fresno State defeated Nevada 7-0 on Friday afternoon.
"It was great to see all of the seniors get on and off the court quickly, which showed their focus in a very difficult time to stay focused because they had so much emotion going into the match, but they held it in well and I'm really proud of them and everyone else in another good win," head coach Ryan Stotland said.
The `Dogs swept through doubles play as Sofya Malysheva and Murtagh claimed a 6-2 win at No. 3, just before Anneka and Sophie Watts clinched the doubles point with a 6-3 victory at No. 2. The teams elected to finish out the match on Court One as the Bulldogs' duo of Maiar and Rana Sharif Ahmed improved to 19-1 on the year with a 7-6(4) win over Shelia Morales and Blaga Delic who entered the match with a 10-2 record.
In singles competition, it was the seniors that got the team started. Agrawal gave the Bulldogs a 2-0 lead with a 6-2, 6-3 win at No. 3 over Sheila Smiley and Susdorf topped Elissa Pavela 6-3, 6-1 at No. 5.
With matches finishing in quick succession, Anneka Watts won 6-0, 6-3 at No. 4, Maiar Sherif Ahmed claimed a 6-0, 6-4 win on Court Three and Murtagh picked up a 6-3, 6-1 victory at No. 6.
No. 59 Sophie Watts then finished off the sweep with a 7-6(4), 6-2 win on Court One over Morales.
The Bulldogs will look to extend their nine-match winning streak on April 10 at No. 74 UC Irvine before facing No. 72 San Diego State two days later.
