OXFORD, Miss. - Fresno State senior Madchen Ly led the women's golf team to a fifth place finish at the Ole Miss Rebel Intercollegiate on Sunday, pacing the 'Dogs with an even-par 216 for an eighth place tie on the individual leaderboard.
On the way to Ly carding a final round 1-over 73, she opened the morning with 11 straight pars at the Ole Miss Golf Course. She mixed in a birdie on the Par-5 15th hole, before bogeys on holes 16 and 18. Ly dominated the Par 5's all weekend as the Bulldog senior shot 6-under on Par-5 holes for a 4.50 scoring average. Ly was one of three individuals to hole an eagle at the tournament; it was on the Par-5 sixth hole on Saturday.
Ly's teammates, sophomore Guðrún Brá Björgvinsdóttir, freshman Mimi Ho and junior Hannah Sodersten all matched her Sunday 73, while Joanna Kim shot a 76.
Texas A&M won the tournament with a team total of 858, followed by Kent State in second place with a 861, and to round out the top three, Tennessee with a total of 869.
The Rebel Intercollegiate was the final regular season tuneup foe the Bulldogs leading up the Mountain West Championships. The conference tournament is April 20-22 at Mission Hills Country Club in Rancho Mirage, Calif.
