FRESNO, Calif. - GoBulldogs.com caught up with freshman guard Raven Johnson for our web series, "Bulldogs 5-On-5". Throughout the month of September, the series will feature the women's basketball team's seven newcomers.
Q: What went into your decision to leave Dallas and sign at Fresno State?
A: The atmosphere of the campus and how close the team and the coaches were. Of course I am far from home so I wanted a family away from home.
Q: What is your favorite thing about your hometown?
A: My favorite thing about Dallas is that there is always something to do! If you are bored, you can definitely find something to do in little time.
Q: What will you be able to bring to the team?
A: I will bring my energy and positivity. My athletic abilities and defensive drive will be a great contribution.
Q: How have the upperclassmen been able to help you adjust so far?
A: The upperclassmen have been a great help. They have been in our position before so they have given great advice and encouragement. They also push me in practice and when I make a mistake they give good criticism.
Q: How is it having another player from Dallas on the team?
A: It's nice having Tory [Jacobs] on the team. We used to play against each other and now that we are on the same team it's nice to relate to someone.
Q: What is your favorite basketball memory?
A: Winning the last game in order to go to the state tournament. We were the first team from our school to go to State.
