'Dogs to Host Second Annual Red Wave Run

Fresno, Calif. - The Fresno State track and field program is excited to announce that its Second Annual Red Wave Run is set for Sunday, Oct. 11.
ABOUT THE EVENT
Location: Bulldog Stadium at Fresno State
1600 Bulldogs Lane, Fresno, CA 93740
Time: 7:15 am - 5K starts; 8:00 am - Kids Race starts
Distances:
5K Run: This is a chip-timed event which will start on Cedar Avenue, winding its way through the Fresno State Campus, and finishing with a run onto Jim Sweeney Field in Bulldog Stadium.
Kids Run: Open to children up to age 12, and takes place on Jim Sweeney Field in Bulldog Stadium. Ages 8 and under will run 1/4 mile, and ages 9-12 will run 1/2 mile.
Registration Fees:
5K Run: Current Student (student ID required at packet pickup) - $15
Fresno State Community (alumni, faculty, staff - ID required at packet pick up) - $25
General Admission - $35
Kids Run: $15
Race Package:
Race package includes: Red Wave Run shirt, overall and age group awards. Plus an exclusive offer to purchase a $20 football ticket to Fresno State vs. Utah State football game on Saturday, Oct. 10.

"Aaron Samansky and his Fleet Feet Sports Fresno are once again the major sponsor and race organizer of our second annual Red Wave 5K Run, said head Track and Field coach Scott Winsor. "Last year there were around 250 runners of all ages at the starting line which was pretty good for our first annual race. We hope to have at least double that this year."
In addition to running the 5K through campus, registered finishers will receive a custom event t-shirt, a finishers medal for all kids race participants, age-group awards for 5K particiants and a delicious post-race breakfast.
"And once again, I can't think of a better way to conclude our Homecoming weekend than having a 5K run through Fresno State campus and finishing inside Bulldog Football Stadium," said Winsor. "It is also just one example of how Fresno State as a whole has become more community and fan friendly over the last several months. It's just a great event."
As an exclusive offer for Red Wave runners you may also puchase tickets to the Utah State vs. Fresno State game on Saturday, Oct. 10 during the online registration process for only $20. This is a significant savings and only available to those registering for the race.
The 'Dogs have partnered up with Fleet Feet Sports Fresno for this event. Former Bulldog runner and owner of Fleet Feet Sports Fresno, Aaron Samansky is honored to assist in this event. Samansky holds the third-fastest 800-meter time on the Fresno State Men's Track and Field all-time list.
"Being a Fresno State Track and Field alumni, I take great pride in hosting this event in conjunction with the Track and Field team," said Samansky. "Running through campus and finishing on Jim Sweeney Field during Homecoming weekend is exciting for everyone! With the support of the community, this run will continue to grow to epic proportion. We are all very excited to see the Red Wave Run continue in 2015 and look forward to seeing this run's popularity grow."
A portion of these proceeds will go to the Fresno State Track and Field program to help build a new track.
Both Winsor and Samansky will appear on Bulldog Insider on Sunday, Oct. 4 to help promote the race.
The Red Wave will cap a busy homecoming weekend which is also highlighted by Bring it Home Weekend Alumni events, including volleyball hosting San Diego State on Saturday, Oct. 10 at 1 p.m., football taking on Utah State later that evening at 7:30 p.m. in Bulldog Stadium, and the weekend wraps up with women's soccer hosting Air Force on Sunday, Oct. 11 at 1 p.m.
