Rodney Terry, Fresno State Head Coach
On the energy of the team tonight…
"We tried to scrimmage over the break. We had really high energy in our practices, and we had really good carry over from that to start the ball game."
On San Jose's comeback in the second half…
"We knew we were going to have to play 40 minutes tonight. This is a team that's not going to stop playing. They're going to continue playing hard and shoot the basketball. They shot 29 three-pointers tonight. They've always been a team that shoots a high volume of three-point shots. I give them a lot of credit they made some shots down the stretch that made the game closer. Every team in this league is going to continue to play. No team is going to laydown and stop playing. I'm proud of my guys the way they hung tough and showed some poise down the stretch. We handled what we needed to handle down the stretch."
"We're going to see comebacks all year long. There's nobody that's going to quit playing. You have play for 40 minutes in this league every night. We were down against Boise by 21 and made it a one possession game with five minutes left to go."
On the Mountain West conference…
"There's ‘no nights off' in this league. That's the beauty of playing in a really good basketball league. There isn't a team in this league that's not going to give anyone a run for their money, whether you're at home or on the road.Wyoming came out tonight and beat New Mexico in ‘the pit'."
On clutch three-pointers at the end of the game…
"Good teams continue to grow. We are in mid January, we still haven't played out best basketball, but we are playing really well. I think we will be playing our best basketball when it matters the most. We are getting better each and every day. We had chance to come back after a week off and try to get back into game mode. We knew we had a team coming in that beat Wyoming at home. We knew we were going to be in for a fight tonight."
On playing San Diego State on Tuesday…
"We have a lot of respect for their program and what they've been able to do over the years. They are who they are in terms of their identity. Hopefully we are who we are in terms of our identity. We are going to play one of the best defensive teams in the country. They are going to have great length and they feed off of turnovers. We didn't do a good job of taking care of the basketball tonight. We have to do a much better job of taking care of the basketball and making decisive plays at their place. They are a team that has a lot of talent and they have some new comers that are playing really well for them."
Marvelle Harris, Senior Guard
On pressure in the game…
"We had a lot of time to relax and take care of our bodies over the week. I think everybody took advantage of that and we all felt fresh."
On confidence in the game…
"Just practice. Getting our reps and shots after going in the gym. I just practice my shot and try to become confident when game time comes.
On getting inside the defense…
"We didn't want to start settling when they went on a run. We wanted to get to the line or the basket and try to get an easy shot in the paint."
On the San Jose's last win…
"Like Coach said, they're a much improved team. Every year you have to compete in this conference and you cant take any win for granted. I think they just played hard and it came out in their favor."
On Juice's attempted dunk…
"Juice is an athletic guy. We always tease him, that he never dunks on fast breaks so when he tried to dunk that I think everybody was surprised."
On Karachi's dunk…
"It's Karachi. He does that. He's an athletic player so when he gets the opportunity that what he does."
"We got on him at the FT line and told him next time, just dunk it."
