Head Coach Jaime White
Opening Statement...
"We had a good start to the game. I thought we were focused and really ran our stuff well and just had a good intensity the first half. I thought Air Force never went away though and they kept playing hard. I like seeing us shoot 48 percent and we did not turn the ball over too much with so many new people running the point guard position and 18 assists is very good and 45 rebounds we really like that."
On playing less experienced players for the first time in MW play....
"I was excited to see Anais and Bego play together, because that is something we want to look at for next season. Candice looked comfortable at the start of the game and that is positive and we have that core group that is a young. Breanne shot well tonight and you are only as strong as your bench and that is positive that has come along since we have been here."
On preparing to mentally play a team with zero wins....
"Our focus was about defense today and I thought we did a pretty good job holding them to right about what we wanted to from the field. You just have to focus on yourself and defensively we really wanted to focus on playing good defense whether it was man or zone. We have a lot of respect for Air Force and what they have been doing and with a new coach there is always going to be a little bit of a stretch there. They never went away and kept playing hard the whole game."
On playing three of the next four games on the road...
"I really only know we play Wyoming on Wednesday. We play well on the road and I don't think that will be something that worries me. It will be more the team that we play and Wyoming has some good outside shooters and players we are going to have to defend. They have a good crowd there are coming off some good wins so we are going to have to be focused on getting better. It is the little thing that have gotten us here and keep moving."
Breanne Knishka, Freshman Forward
On setting a new career high with 15 points and the team's performance overall....
"It was a good win. I think everyone came in focused and was on the same page."
On being more comfortable on the floor....
"The last shot from the San Diego State win gave me more confidence coming into today."
Bego Faz Davalos, Sophomore Center
On notching her ninth double-double this season....
"I am not used to it. I feel happy about it and am always working on it and am just happy my teammates helped me."
On starting off MW play undefeated....
"I am happy, but not surprised. We are a really good team, but it is not something we can expect. We have to continue working."
