Latest Fresno Athletic Hall of Fame Class nets four Bulldogs

The career accomplishments of Ron Adams, Yvette Roberts, Paul Schechter and Billy Volek were on stage at the 58th Annual Enshrinement Awards Dinner for the Fresno Athletic Hall of Fame
FRESNO, Calif. – Four Bulldog greats were celebrated on Thursday evening at the 58th Annual Enshrinement Awards Dinner for the Fresno Athletic Hall of Fame. Of the six inductees to the newest class, four had Fresno State ties in Ron Adams (men's basketball), Yvette Roberts (women's basketball), Paul Schechter (athletic training) and Billy Volek (football).

Ron Adams: Former Fresno State coach Ron Adams is in his third season with the Golden State Warriors, and has been named the NBA's top assistant coach by the league's general managers in each of the past two seasons. In his first season at Golden State, he helped lead the Warriors to a NBA Championship. Adams was an assistant coach at Fresno State from 1980-86, when the Bulldogs made three NCAA Tournaments and won the 1983 NIT Championship. He also served as Fresno State's head coach from 1986-90.

Yvette Roberts: The leading rebounder in Fresno State women's basketball history with 984 during her career (1986-89), a mark that has stood since 1989, Yvette Roberts also holds the program's record for made free throws (486), and still ranks second in career points (1,784) and scoring average (15.7). She was a three-time selection to both the American Women's Sports Federation and Women's Basketball News Service All-American teams and earned conference honors in three different leagues (NorPac, PCAA, Big West). During the 1986-87 season, Roberts helped lead the Bulldogs to Top 25 rankings in both the USA Today and Associated Press.

Paul Schecter: Served as the head athletics trainer for 27 years at Fresno State (1974-2000), which included overseeing the football team. An invaluable member of the athletics department, Schecter's contributions also included spearheading fundraising efforts for new facilities. During his career, he was also the head athletic trainer at three Olympic Trials (1964, '68 and '72) and the athletics trainer for the United States track and field team at the Military World Games in 1968, '71 and '73, He was selected to the NATA District 8 Hall of Fame in 2001.

Billy Volek: A four-year letterman that played from 1996-99 under Pat Hill. Volek left Fresno State as the No. 4 all-time career leader in passing yards, adding up 6,532 in his time, and still ranks No. 8 to this day. His senior season ended with a WAC title and trip to the Las Vegas Bowl. That year he registered 2,706 yards with 30 touchdowns against only three interception as a first-team All-WAC selection. Despite going undrafted, Volek went on to have a 12-year NFL career, splitting time with the San Diego Chargers and Tennessee Titans.

• Bob Glasson (Golf): Played on the PGA Tour, Oral Roberts and McLane
• 1968 Hoover baseball team: Finished ranked No. 1 in the nation
