COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Fresno State had 50 student-athletes named to the fall 2015 Academic All-Mountain West team that was released Thursday by the league office.
This is the third year in a row that Fresno State has had 50 or more student-athletes selected to the fall team -- one of only four Mountain West schools to do so.
Fall sports include men's and women's cross country, football, women's soccer and women's volleyball. In all, 571 student-athletes from across the conference were named to the 2015 team, surpassing the previous conference record of 539 fall-semester honorees set during the 2013-14 academic year.
The Bulldog volleyball team had the second-highest number of honorees from any league member for that sport with 10 members selected.
Fresno State's football team had 19 selections this fall. It marks the fourth-straight year that the Bulldog football team has had 15 or more student-athletes selected to the fall Academic All-MW team. Fresno State and Boise State are the only two schools in that time frame to have 15 or more honorees from football each year.
To be eligible for selection, student-athletes must have completed at least one academic term at the member institution while maintaining a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better, and be a starter or significant contributor on their athletic team.
