Fresno State Head Coach, Rodney Terry
On having so many close games in conference play…
"This time of year that's what you're going to have. We played a really good Utah State team today. We knew that they were going to put a lot of pressure on us defensively, because they are a really good offensive team. They play at a fast pace and they can shoot the basketball. At this time of year, this is what you're in for. You're going to play one possession games whether you're home or on the road."
On Karachi Edo playing today…
"Karachi was out with an injury so we wanted to ease him back onto the floor. We had some other guys step up and perform well in his absence, so we brought him in slowly. I thought he did a really good job for us today."
On Alumni Night in the Save Mart Center…
It's great to have our former players back here. They are a big part in what we're doing and what we're trying to build here. We try to welcome all of our alumni back because they made a lot of sacrifices over the years for this program. We're excited about having them here."
On the crowd tonight…
"It's a big deal anytime we can have our home crowd come out and get behind our guys. They feed off of the energy in the building. It gives them the adrenaline to go out and play at a high level. In this league every venue that we go to has a good home crowd, and it's usually a hostile environment to play in. Our home crowd making our arena a difficult place to play is icing on the cake for us."
On what he's learned over the last week what have you learned about the team…
"Our guys have had each other's backs. They've tried to pick each other up. Even the guys that are not playing for us right now have kept the other guys engaged in what we're doing. They've kept each other involved in every aspect, that's why Karachi Edo had the ability to come back in the game tonight and not miss a beat."
"We've fought through adversity. We have really bought into the 'next man up' mentality."
On how having players injured will benefit the team in the long run…
"The strengths of our team are strength and depth. The more guys that we have that can go out on the floor and get thing done, the better it will be for us. We can play a lot of different ways with a lot of different combinations. We want a lot of bodies because we're an aggressive team that tends to foul a lot. All hands on deck!"
Marvelle Harris, Senior Guard
On Karachi being out for a while…
"He has been practicing, paying attention, and rehabbing. He has been doing everything coach needed him to do and I think he stepped up and was ready to play. It is always great having another guy out there helping us, and Karachi is a big help."
On getting today's win…
"We don't like to get too high or too low on wins, so it's just another win, and we are looking forward to the next game."
On Utah State's fight at the end…
"We always expect a fight from every team in this league. Every team is a good team, and any night could be anybody's night so you always have to expect a fight."
On the team benefitting from not having key players…
"In a way, a lot of guys have stepped up and showed us that they are capable of doing things to help out the team. By their absence, I think it has helped a lot of guys build confidence and, overall, has made us a better team."
On if there will be any difficulties when the other players come back…
"No I think it just adds more to our game. We can go big or we can go small, and now we have people ready to play."
On having only 4 regular season games left…
"We just take it one game at a time. Worry about the next game, and focus on that."
