Team Notes
With the win, Fresno State improved to 20-9 this season and 11-5 in Mountain West play. This is the 20th time in program history that the Bulldogs have won 20 games in a single season.
Fresno State has improved its conference win total in each of the last four seasons -- climbing from 5-11 (2012-13) to 9-9 (2013-14) to 10-8 (2014-15) to 11-5 (2015-16). There are still two more conference games to play as the Bulldogs host Colorado State on Wednesday and visit Utah State on Saturday.
Fresno State also earned its first-ever win over New Mexico at The Pit in its ninth try. The Bulldogs' only other win at The Pit came back on March 7, 1996 when Fresno State defeated Wyoming 91-82 in the quarterfinals of the 1996 Western Athletic Conference Tournament.
Fresno State has secured a first-round bye for the 2016 Mountain West Basketball Championships and will open play on Thursday, March 10 as either the No. 2, 3, 4 or 5 seed. The quarterfinal game will tip off at either 2:30 p.m., 6 p.m. PT or 8:30 p.m. PT, depending on seeding.
Fresno State has won six of its last seven games and eight of its last 10 -- all during conference play.
Fresno State is in sole possession of second place in the Mountain West standings.
This is Fresno State's seventh win in the last two seasons after trailing at the half.
