FRESNO, Calif.- The Bulldogs baseball teams looks to improve on its historic start on Tuesday evening hosting CSU Bakersfield at Pete Beiden Field. First pitch is set for 6:05 p.m.

• Fresno State is 8-0 for the first time since 1975 when full records began to be kept.
• The `Dogs 8-0 start to the season is the best-ever by a Mountain West school surpassing 7-0 starts by New Mexico in 2008 and Nevada in 2015.
• Fresno State is one of only five teams in the nation who are 8-0 after Sunday's (Feb. 28) game joining Vanderbilt, South Carolina, Arkansas and Gardner-Webb.
• The Bulldogs current eight-game winning streak is the sixth time the `Dogs have had an eight-game or longer winning streak under Coach Batesole (since 2003).
• The Bulldogs swept a four-game series over Youngstown State this past weekend at Pete Beiden Field winning 8-3 on Friday, 11-0 and 6-5 on Saturday and wrapped up the sweep on Sunday with a 6-1 victory.
• Fresno State notched its 2,500 wins as a program after Saturday's first game becoming only the 19th program in Division I to reach that mileston. The Bulldogs are now 2,502-1,490-6 (.627) in their 88-year history.
• The `Dogs 1.38 ERA leads the MW and ranks fourth in the nation.
• The Bulldogs also rank 2nd in the NCAA in sacrifice flies with nine and are 6th in the nation in hits allowed per nine innings (5.63).

Jimmy Lambert named Mountain West Pitcher of the Week
The junior right-hander tossed a complete game shutout in Saturday's 11-0 victory over Youngstown State to earn his first carer Mountain West Pitcher of the Week honor.

Helping the Bulldogs stay a perfect 8-0 on the season, Lambert tossed a complete game shutout in game one of Saturday's doubleheader sweep of Youngstown State. Bolstered by 11 runs from the Bulldog offense, Lambert worked efficiently throwing a career-high nine innings limiting the Penguins to only three singles issuing zero walks and striking out five.

The San Dimas Calif., native notched seven 1-2-3 innings and faced only two batters over the minimum retiring 27 of the 29 YSU batters he faced on the afternoon while throwing 94 pitches.

It was the first complete game shutout since Jake Shull held San Jose State to one hit while striking out three in a 4-0 win on May 1, 2015. Shull earned the second of his two MW Pitcher of the Week honors after that performance.

Taking a look at the Roadrunners
CSU Bakersfield is off to a 4-2 start this season after defeating St. John's in two of the three games at home over the weekend. CSUB also won a pair of games on the road on Feb. 19 and Feb. 21 at CSU Northridge and dropped a game at home on Feb. 20.

On the season, CSUB is hitting .255 as a team and is led by Tuesday evening's starting pitcher Max Carter at the plate. The junior is hitting .450 (9-20) with two doubles, three runs scored and has driven in a team-high seven RBIs. On the mound, the pitching staff has a 4.02 collective ERA, but is holding opponents to a .209 batting average.

The Roadrunners were 37-24-1 in 2015 winning the WAC Tournament and advanced to the NCAA Tournament playing in the NCAA Regional. CSU Bakersfield was predicted to finish fourth in the WAC preseason poll this year.
