Jimmy Lambert named MW Pitcher of the Week

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Fresno State junior right-handed pitcher Jimmy Lambert was named the Mountain West Pitcher of the Week, as announced by the conference office on Monday.
Helping the Bulldogs stay a perfect 8-0 on the season, Lambert tossed a complete game shutout in game one of Saturday's doubleheader sweep of Youngstown State. Bolstered by 11 runs from the Bulldog offense, Lambert worked efficiently throwing a career-high nine innings limiting the Penguins to only three singles issuing zero walks and striking out five.
The San Dimas Calif., native notched seven 1-2-3 innings and faced only two batters over the minimum retiring 27 of the 29 YSU batters he faced on the afternoon while throwing 94 pitches.
It was the first complete game shutout since Jake Shull held San Jose State to one hit while striking out three in a 4-0 win on May 1, 2015. Shull earned the second of his two MW Pitcher of the Week honors after that performance
This is Lambert's first career MW Pitcher of the Week honor and is the 13th time a Fresno State pitcher has earned MW Pitcher of the Week since the 'Dogs joined the conference in 2013. The first time a pair of 'Dogs have earned the honor in back-to-back weeks, the Bulldogs claimed three MW Pitchers of the Week awards in 2015, four in 2014 and four in 2013.
Fresno State returns to action on Tuesday hosting CSU Bakersfield (4-2) at 6:05 p.m. at Pete Beiden Field for International Night. The game can be heard on 940 AM ESPN Radio and viewed on the Mountain West Network.
