Head Coach Jaime White
Opening Statement…
"We are obviously disappointed with the outcome of the game. We had a good first quarter, I think we got a little ahead of ourselves. We gave up 16 offensive rebounds and I think that was big. I though defensively we weren't as tough as we have been. We let them get drives. They did a good job of transitioning in the 4th quarter. We flipped quarters. We did well in the 1st and they did a good job in the 4th."
On 2nd quarter frustration letting SJSU come back…
"Yes and that's the way they play. We know that. They get down 10 or 15 points and they can turn that around in a matter of minutes. We've go to know that. We just weren't as sharp as we have been."
On the 4th quarter...
"That was hard for everyone. We really don't have a lot of answers right now or we would have used them. I think we've had multiple kids step up and do different things at different times. I thought we didn't have that down the stretch. I think we had that earlier on. If you look at our scoring percentages in the first three quarters we were above 45% and then we go to 30 percent. We shot well from the FT line, but we didn't get there very often. It was kind of just one of those games that we can learn from. Hopefully we see them in the tournament and then its 0-0. Now I think we can refocus and there's no streak anymore. They broke our streak and we've got to face the facts and get back to work. We have to decide who we're going to be the rest of the season."
On last timeout in 4th quarter…
"It is hard when they had so many fouls to give. It is not easy, especially with 5 seconds left. I thought they were brilliant. They let a few seconds come off and then they foul. We got the ball to the right person but before we could pass there was a foul. At the very last play we had to go in and now we have less seconds and no time so it has got to be practically a tip-in."
On San Jose State…
"They're good. They have played every team in our league hard. They almost beat Colorado State at home. They almost beat us there. It wasn't like we didn't think it was going to be a hard game. They played better than us tonight and that's frustrating but that's just kind of how it is."
On the next game on the road…
"We never want to go on the road to be honest. We'd love to stay here, go to school and play in front of our home crowd. We still have to go to UNLV, we have to go to San Diego, who almost beat us here, and we have to go to Colorado State. This season is not even close to being over. It is a little frustrating because we did well early but you can't get ahead of yourself. I think that's what we learned here tonight."
Senior forward Toni Smith
On inside battle & rebounds…
"They were very physical and they're known for their physicality. They really showed it today and it was just tough."
Senior guard Alex Furr
On sting of the loss….
"It makes me sick to my stomach."
