FRESNO, Calif. -- Fresno State student-athlete alumni will be hosting its Second Annual Club Red Mixer and Fundraiser this Saturday, April 23 from 3-6 p.m. at the Soccer/Lacrosse Stadium.
This event welcomes back alumni from all Bulldog sports and eras, prominent donors and community leaders, members of our current coaching staff and administration, including President Joseph Castro and his wife Mary and Director of Athletics Jim Bartko.
Recent 2015 Fresno Athletic Hall of Fame Inductee, Ron Rivers will be the keynote alumni speaker. Rivers is the second all-time leading rusher in Fresno State football history, with a total of 3,584 yards and 28 touchdowns during his Bulldog career. He was a two-time all-conference recipient and was named an All-American during three conference title winning seasons (1991-93). Rivers then played six seasons in the NFL with Detroit and Atlanta.
In addition to Rivers, legendary Bulldog baseball coach and player Bob Bennett will be in attendance at the alumni hosted event. Two weeks from this Saturday, Fresno State will honor Bennett with the unveiling of the baseball stadium dedication signage as it becomes Pete Beiden Field at Bob Bennett Stadium on May 7.
This annual event will also be open to the general public on a limited basis. Tickets are $30 each. There will be heavy appetizers, desert and complimentary beer, wine and soft drinks served.
There will also be silent auction items and very unique Bulldog experiences up for grabs. All proceeds from this event will go towards supporting current Bulldog student-athletes through a donation to the Bulldog Foundation Scholarship Fund.
Free tickets for both that evening's home softball (6p.m., Colorado State) and baseball (6:05p.m., San Jose State) games will be available.
