First Career Network Night A Success

FRESNO, Calif- Fresno State Athletics held its inaugural Career Network Night for its student-athletes on Wednesday, April 20. The event gave student-athletes the opportunity to hear from key alumni and meet with local companies to network.
"A college education prepares young men and women for life after graduation," said Deputy Director of Athletics, Steve Robertello."Teaching our student-athletes how to network and go through the process of finding a job was the goal for this event. As we always strive to give our student-athletes the best experience possible while they are with us at Fresno State, it is also very important to us to see them obtain success after graduation and this was a small yet fun step we took to help them in that direction."
To kick off the evening, student-athletes were welcomed by Bulldog track alumni and current Fresno State Athletics Director of Events, Matt Studwell (2003-05).
Former Bulldog kicker, Andrew Shapiro (2008-12) then took the stage and shared his advice on entering the working field and life after sports.
Over 120 current Bulldogs then had the opportunity to walk around the Student-Athlete Village to over 30 different booths, talking with a variety of local companies.
All tables and individuals in attendance offered opportunities for the athletes to grow professionally. At the KSEE 24/CBS 47 booth student-athletes had the chance to stand in front of the camera and read lines as a sports anchor.
Club Red, the official Fresno State student-athlete alumni group sponsored the evening. In an effort to help better prepare student-athletes for life after being a Bulldog, this was the first of many Club Red sponsored Creating A Path to Success (C.A.P.S.) events to come.
