INDIANAPOLIS -- Former Fresno State men's basketball player Paul George will be featured on the cover of NBA 2K17 standard edition, the video game company announced this week.
"I have been playing NBA 2K as long as I can remember," George said. "To be honored as cover athlete of NBA 2K17 is a blessing and vote of confidence that my hard work on and off the court has paid off."
George, who played at Fresno State from 2008-10, quickly emerged as a potential NBA prospect with his explosive athleticism, work ethic, size and ability to play multiple positions.
After his sophomore season ended in 2010, he declared for the NBA Draft and became the program's highest overall draft pick when the Indiana Pacers selected him with the No. 10 overall pick.
"Paul is a great ambassador for Fresno State," Bulldogs' head coach Rodney Terry said. "We are very appreciative of how he stays connected with our program. He's living his dream playing in the NBA and doing so at a high level. It is invaluable for him to be able to share his experiences with our players."
George attended the Bulldogs' non-conference game with the Ducks in Eugene this past season and took time to speak to the team in the visiting locker room after the game.
Last week, George was named to the 2015-16 All-NBA Third Team and NBA All-Defensive Second Team after leading the Pacers to the Eastern Conference Playoffs.
George, a three-time NBA All-Star and now three-team All-NBA honoree, is also a finalist for the USA'S Olympic Team, which will compete in Rio later this summer.
NBA 2K17 will be released this September.
