Fresno State Assistant AD for Student-Athlete Services Eric Coleman has earned an opportunity to further advance his career as a part of this year's 22-person leadership seminar.
FRESNO, Calif. - Fresno State Assistant Athletic Director of Student-Athlete Services, Eric Coleman, has been selected as one of 22 minority and female administrators across the country to participate in the 2016 NCAA Leadership Institute. The group, which is for those who are committed to advancing their careers in collegiate athletics, was selected by a committee made up of current administrators and past seminar participants.
"It's an honor for me to receive this opportunity as the selection process is very competitive," Coleman said. "It's a one-week intensive leadership boot camp where they bring in ADs and top administrators from across the country to give us a crash course on key areas to lead a department. I know people that have been a part of this before and it opens a lot of doors to you right away."
The institute provides professional development programming over the course of a calendar year from NCAA leadership development, including one-week programs at the beginning and conclusion of that year. For the administrators who participate, the program provides insight into every facet of an athletics department, preparing them to become well-rounded leaders.
Participants will gather July 9-15 in Phoenix, Ariz., for the first in-person sessions. Along with continuing-education activities throughout the year and the extensive alumni group, participants not only enhance and master skill sets, but also explore and plan for future career goals and paths.
