105 student-athletes earn Academic All-MW

Fresno State garners a record-setting 105 Academic All-Mountain West selections for the spring 2016 term.
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Fresno State had 105 student-athletes named to the spring 2016 Academic All-Mountain West team, out of the record-setting 993 total honorees as announced by the league on Wednesday afternoon.
This is the highest number of Bulldog student-athletes recognized for their success in the classroom since joining the Mountain West for the 2012-13 academic year. Fresno State sported what was then a record-high 98 members a season ago.
Spring sports include men's and women's basketball, men's and women's golf, swimming and diving, men's and women's tennis, men's and women's track and field, baseball and softball. Eligible selections must have completed at least one academic term at the member institution and maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.00 or better, in addition to being a starter or significant contributor on their respective athletic team.
Swimming and diving's 22 selections were the most for any Bulldog program, meanwhile women's track and field trailed at 17 and three additional teams landed double-digit honorees - baseball (16), softball (12) and men's track and field (11).
Earlier in the year, 50 Bulldogs were named to the fall 2015 Academic All-MW team, including players from men's and women's cross country, football, women's soccer and women's volleyball. With this accomplishment, Fresno State became one of only four Mountain West schools to have 50 or more student-athletes selected to the fall academic team for three-consecutive years.
