Bulldogs open season at Nevada Twilight

Women's 4K to start at 8:40 p.m.; men's 5K at 9:20 p.m.
FRESNO, Calif. - The Fresno State men's and women's cross country teams open the 2016 season on Friday night in Nevada as they compete in the 10th Annual Nature's Bakery Nevada Twilight Cross Country Classic. The meet will be held at Shadow Mountain Park in Sparks.
NEVADA TWILIGHT
Date: Friday, September 2, 2016
Time: 8:40 p.m. – Women's 4k; 9:20 p.m. – Men's 5k
Location: Shadow Mountain Park, Sparks, Nevada
Directions: From I-80 east bound take Exit 20 (Sparks Blvd). Turn left (north) onto Sparks Blvd. The park will be on your right in 2.3 miles. From I-80 west bound take Exit 20 (Sparks Blvd.) Turn right (north) onto Sparks Blvd. The park will be on your right in 2.3 miles.

BULLDOGS LINEUP
Competing for the Bulldogs tomorrow night will be Brittany Laygo, Alexis Miguel, Taylor Samson, Jennifer Viramontes and Annelis Walk on the women's side. The men will feature Joel Gonzalez, Matt Kwiatkowski, Jack Kuzminsky, Efren Reyes, Alec Hastings and Ryan Walker.
WHAT THE 'DOGS WILL LOOK LIKE IN 2016
The men's team returns the majority of its runners from last season, including seniors Cooper Gil, Matt Kwiatkowski, Jack Kuzminsky and Efren Reyes. Gill and Kwiatkowski led Fresno State last season at the Mountain West Championships, finishing 31st and 39th, respectively.
Returning on the women's side is last year's leader in junior Mackenzie Landa who finished in the top 10 in three of her four races in 2015. Joining Landa from last season are seniors Brittany Laygo and Cristal Rivera. Bolstering the Bulldogs' roster this year will be the return of senior Annemarie Schwanz, who took last season off. She currently owns the school record in the 5K and the second-best time in the 6K.Â
ON THE HORIZON
Following Friday's competition the Bulldogs will take next weekend off before traveling to Seattle, Wash., for the UW Sundodger Invitational on Sept. 17, a meet that Fresno State has competed in the previous two seasons.
