'Dogs head to 25th annual UW Sundodger Invitational

FRESNO, Calif. - The Fresno State men's and women's cross country teams continue their season on Saturday morning in Seattle, Wash., as they compete in the 25th annual UW Sundodger Invitational. Hosted by University of Washington, the meet will be held at Lincoln Park in West Seattle.

Teams: Washington, Washington State, Fresno State, Hawaii, Portland State, and Seattle U.

BULLDOGS LINEUP
Competing for the Bulldogs tomorrow morning will be Kyra Johnson, Brittany Laygo, Raven Nunez, Taylor Samson, Annemarie Schwanz, Jennifer Viramontes and Annelis Walker on the women's side. The men will feature Joel Gonzalez, Alec Hastings, Matt Kwiatkowski, Jack Kuzminsky, Efren Reyes, Michael Viano and Ryan Walker.
BULLDOGS OPEN SEASON AT NEVADA
Fresno State opened the season two weeks ago at the Nevada Twilight. Kwiatkowski was the Bulldogs' top finisher as he finished second in the men's 5K, one second out of first place. Reyes also finished in the top 10, placing eighth. In the women's 4K Laygo recorded Fresno State's top time as she had a time of 16:05, finishing 19th overall.
WHAT THE 'DOGS WILL LOOK LIKE IN 2016
The men's team returns the majority of its runners from last season, including seniors Cooper Gil, Matt Kwiatkowski, Jack Kuzminsky and Efren Reyes. Gill and Kwiatkowski led Fresno State last season at the Mountain West Championships, finishing 31st and 39th, respectively.
Returning on the women's side is last year's leader in junior Mackenzie Landa who finished in the top 10 in three of her four races in 2015. Joining Landa from last season are seniors Brittany Laygo and Cristal Rivera. Bolstering the Bulldogs' roster this year will be the return of senior Annemarie Schwanz, who took last season off. She currently owns the school record in the 5K and the second-best time in the 6K.Â
ON THE HORIZON
Following Saturday's competition the Bulldogs will take next weekend off before traveling Palo Alto, Calif., for the Stanford Invitational on Oct. 1, a meet that Fresno State has competed in during the previous six seasons.
