Trio of Bulldogs named UEC September Riders of the Month

A trio of Bulldogs from the No. 9 Fresno State equestrian team earned United Equestrian Conference (UEC) September Riders of the Month honors.
WACO, Texas - A trio of Bulldogs from the No. 9 Fresno State equestrian team earned United Equestrian Conference (UEC) September Riders of the Month honors. Senior Sierra Swaffar earned her honors on the Equitation on the Flat, junior Taeya Harle earned honors for horsemanship and sophomore Paige Barton picked up honors in reining.
This is Swaffar's second career monthly honor from the UEC after being named the October Equitation on the Flat Rider of the Month as a sophomore in 2015-16. This is the first monthly honor for Harle and Barton while Barton was honored earlier this month by the National Collegiate Equestrian Association (NCEA) as the September Reining Rider of the Month.
This is the fourth time in program history the 'Dogs have claimed three of the four monthly UEC awards as they also picked up three of the four honors in October 2015 (Swaffar, Taylor Dixon & Taylor Brown), September 2016 (Kylina Chalack, Brown, Brown) and October 2016 (Natalie Wendt, Brown & Brown).
The Bulldogs are back in action on Oct. 21 at South Dakota State (0-2) at 7 a.m. PT in Brookings, S.D.
Fresno State's UEC September Riders of the Month
Equitation On The Flat: Sierra Swaffar, Fresno State
- Swaffar went a perfect 3-0 in equitation on the flat in September.
- Earned three Most Outstanding Player honors during the month, including two in Equitation on the Flat against South Dakota State and No. 2 Georgia.
- Averaged a score of 82 during the month of September.
- Won her three Equitation on the Flat rides by 5.67 points.
Horsemanship: Taeya Harle, Fresno State
- Harle went 2-1 in horsemanship in September.
- Earned two Most Outstanding Player honors in horsemanship against No. 1 Texas A&M and South Dakota State.
- Averaged a score of 74.2 during the month of September.
Reining: Paige Barton, Fresno State
-Â Barton went a perfect 3-0 in reining in September.
- Earned Most Outstanding Player honors in reining against No. 1 Texas A&M and South Dakota State.
- Averaged a score of 71.2 during the month of September.
- Won her three rides by an average of 3.33 points.
