Fresno State to host BYU and Cal Poly on Friday.
FRESNO, Calif. - Returning from two weeks of competition away from home, the Fresno State women's tennis team got back on track with a 4-2 win over Middle Tennessee on Wednesday evening.
The Blue Raiders took the early advantage through a pair of 6-4 doubles victories on Court 1 and 3, but the Bulldogs responded in singles play. Freshman Katerina Stloukalova got the 'Dogs back to level with 6-1, 6-3 win at No. 1 over Josefina Zehnder, but Lindia Burrows put Middle Tennessee back on top with a win at No. 3.
The Bulldogs then seized control of the dual match, rattling off three straight victories to claim the victory. Georgia Lawson started the string of wins, outlasting Sarah Sediri in a 7-5 first set before grabbing the second, 6-2. Juliane Triebe then topped Peris Herrero 6-2, 7-5 on Court 4 to pull the 'Dogs within one point of the clinch. Forced to go three sets after dropping the first, 6-2, Emma Wilson responded with 7-5 second set before defeating Costanza Magazzini 6-4 in the third.
Fresno State will host BYU on Friday at 11 a.m. PT at the Spalding G. Wathen Tennis Center before heading to Copper River Country Club to play an evening match against Cal Poly at 5 p.m.Â
