‘Dogs stumble at Utah State, 60-52

Fresno State shoots 28.3 percent, outrebounded by 15 at Utah State.
LOGAN, Utah – Struggling through its worst shooting game since Nov. 19, Fresno State fell 60-52 to Utah State at Dee Glen Smith Spectrum on Saturday afternoon. The Bulldogs shot just 28.3 percent (15-of-53) from the field despite going 9-of-25 from 3 (36.0 percent).
Utah State controlled the glass throughout the game, outrebounding Fresno State 49-34 and holding a 20-9 advantage in second chance points after grabbing 18 offensive rebounds.
Candice White led the 'Dogs in scoring with 16 points while Jordanna Porter chipped in a career-high 12 points. The Aggies got 40 points from its top three scorers Haley Bassett (18), Olivia West (12) and Shannon Dufficy (10).
HOW IT HAPPENED
Fresno State opened up the game struggling from the field, shooting just 1-of-12 as the Aggies were 7-of-16. The Bulldogs trailed 19-2 after 10 minutes, its lowest point total for a quarter and its largest first-quarter deficit this season.
The 'Dogs found their footing in the second quarter, especially from outside as they knocked down 5-of-8 from 3. With a 13-3 run during the final five minutes, Fresno State cut the deficit from 17 to seven by the half as the team trailed 32-25 heading into the locker room.
The Bulldogs managed to pull within three in the third with 4:07 on the clock. After three missed shots, the Aggies went on an 8-0 run to extend their lead back up to 11. Porter's third 3-pointer of the game with under a minute remaining made it a 48-40 game.
Much like the first quarter, the Bulldogs struggled from the field, shooting 3-of-15 as they missed six 3-point attempts and fell 60-52.
TEAM NOTES
- Fresno State was outrebounded 49-34, its third-worst margin this season. The 'Dogs are 0-4 this season when being outrebounded by at least 15.
- It is Fresno State's first loss of the season when holding an opponent below 40 percent from the field (36.5 percent).
- Fresno State has not shot below 30 percent in a game since Nov. 24. It happed in three straight games from Nov. 15-24.

Fresno State will return home for three games this week beginning with Air Force on Monday at 7 p.m. PT.
