Fresno State concludes play at John Burns Intercollegiate in 12th place

LIHUE, Hawai'i- Fresno State men's golf came into today's final round tied for 12th place. After an early-round surge in which the Bulldogs were 6-under-par, they came back down to earth and ended the day exactly where they started on the John Burns Intercollegiate leaderboard. Alex Lee was the top finisher for the 'Dogs as he tied for 20th place overall.
"It was another solid week for Alex (Lee)," head coach Chad Spencer said. "He might have not had his A game today but he still put up a solid number. The team is clearly getting better. We beat a few good teams and got some solid performances from our freshmen."
Alex Lee got off to a hot start as he was 2-under-par after six holes. The junior would play the final 12 holes at 3-over-par to finish with a 1-over-par 73 in the final round.
Michael Cliff, Lane Pulliam and Justin Avery all carded 1-over-par 73's in round three.
Cliff tallied a 2-over-par 39 on the back nine and a 1-under-par 35 on the front, the best score on the front nine among the Bulldogs on Saturday. The freshman finished the tournament tied for 64th.
Pulliam posted a 1-over-par 37 on the front and an even-par 36 on the back. Avery was even par on the front nine and 1-over-par on the back as he tallied a team-high 13 pars in the final round. Both finished the week tied for 51st place.
Kevin Huff rounded out the Fresno State lineup as he logged an 8-over-par 80. Â
The 'Dogs will be back in action on March 3-4 as they are set to compete in the Desert Mountain Intercollegiate. The tournament will be hosted by Michigan at Outlaw Course in Phoenix, Ariz.
