Friday's match will mark the 18th matchup in the history of the series between Fresno State and San Jose State. The Bulldogs have not lost to the Spartans in the previous 17 matches. The 'Dogs won last season's dual in Fresno, 4-3, on April 9, 2017.

Bulldogs at a glance:
Fresno State is 7-11 on the year after winning its third straight match last weekend in its Mountain West opener at Nevada. The 4-3 win was not only the Bulldogs third consecutive win, it was the third straight win by one point. It was also the third match in a row with a different player providing the clinching point as junior Olivia Noble gave the 'Dogs the win with a 6-4, 7-5 result in the No. 6 match.

Emma Wilson leads the team with 23 singles wins on the year (23-11), including a team-high 10 during dual play (10-6). Juliane Triebe is right behind Wilson as the sophomore is 22-12 overall and 9-7 during the spring. Wilson is also part of the Bulldogs' No. 1 doubles team as her and Georgia Lawson are No. 35 in the latest ITA rankings (April 10). The two have compiled a 10-9 record overall with two wins coming against nationally-ranked teams.
Looking at Spartans:
San Jose State is 11-6 on the year but have won just two of its last six matches which includes a 6-1 defeat in its conference opener at UNLV. Freshman Savannah Sendar leads the Spartans with 17 wins on the year while fellow first-year teammate, Jackie Wagner, and senior Sybille Gauvain have totaled 15 wins apiece. Sendar has a team-best 12-1 record in dual play, with nine of her wins coming at the No. 6 position. Gauvain has a 10-3 record in duals at the No. 1 spot. Gauvain is also a part of the Spartans' top doubles teams, holding a 7-2 overall record (4-1 at No. 1) alongside Miyo Kobayashi and a 5-3 record at the No. 1 spot with Savannah Sendar.

Fresno State will host its final two conference matches next week against San Diego State (April 17) and UNLV (April 21).
