BOISE, Idaho – Kelsey Broadus allowed just four hits and one walk in six shutout innings as Boise State defeated Fresno State, 8-0, in six innings on Saturday.
Â
Boise State (34-13, 12-5 MW) has taken the first two games of the weekend series to move into a tie with Fresno State (29-18, 12-5 MW) atop the Mountain West standings. Though Boise State has claimed the series after Saturday's victory and a 2-1 win in eight innings on Friday, Fresno State still controls its own destiny as the winner of the series finale on Sunday will hold an outright lead in the conference with two weeks remaining in the regular season.
The finale on Sunday has been moved up one hour due to the weather forecast and will now begin at 10 a.m. Pacific time.
Â
How it Happened
The 'Dogs got a leadoff walk from Miranda Rohleder to start things in the first and an error gave the Bulldogs runners on the corners with two out but they were left aboard. Vanessa Hernandez made a leaping catch at the wall in center for the first out in the bottom of the first but the Broncos scored a run on three hits and a walk in the inning, though Samantha Mejia was able to strand the bases loaded.
Â
In the top of the third Kaitlyn Jennings had a leadoff double and reached third with one away but was stranded. The Broncos got a leadoff double of their own in the bottom of the third and scored the run on a Jessica McKay single. With runners on second and third and one out McKay scored on a sacrifice fly to make the lead 3-0.
Â
The Bulldogs had a hit in each of the next three innings, including a pair of singles from Hernandez and a double from Katie Castellon, but could not score. The Broncos added one run on three hits in the fourth, another run on a Morgan Lamb RBI single in the fifth, and three in the sixth, all with two outs, with a run rule walk-off RBI double from Makenzie Sullivan ending the game.

Notable
The series concludes on Sunday with first pitch moved up to 10 a.m. Pacific time.Â
