Bulldogs consistent through final round of John Burns Intercollegiate

LIHUE, Kauai'i – The Fresno State men's golf team wrapped up the final round of the John Burns Intercollegiate, hosted by Hawai'i at Wailua Golf Course in Lihue, Kauai'i, on Saturday, moving up one spot from the second round to finish in 14th place. The Bulldogs shot a 2-over-par 290 in the third round to finish the tournament at 6-over-par 870.

Senior Alex Lee led the way for the 'Dogs throughout the tournament, firing a 1-under-par 71 in the final round. The Sacramento, Calif., native finished the tournament at 4-under-par 212, which placed him tied for 16th in the field. This was Lee's second straight finish at 212, placing tied for 15th and tied for 16th in back-to-back tournaments, his highest finishes of the season.

Sophomore Kevin Huff posted the best final-round score for Fresno State, finishing the day at 2-under-par 70. The El Dorado Hills, Calif., native ended his tournament just behind Lee on the scorecard, finishing at 2-over-par 218 to place tied for 48th.

Freshman Tommy Stephenson and sophomore Michael Cliff had the next lowest score for the 'Dogs as both finished the tournament tied for 64th place after shooting a 5-over-par 221 overall. Stephenson, a Carlsbad, Calif., native, posted a 2-over-par 74 in the final round to round out his tally. Cliff, a hometown Fresno, Calif., native, shot a 3-over-par 75 on day three for his total.

Freshman Seldon Doyle wrapped things up for Fresno State as he carded a 4-over-par 76 in the third round of the tournament. The Thousand Oaks, Calif., native concluded the tournament at 17-over-par 233 after recovering from a tough opening round.

The 'Dogs will be back in action March 4-5 as they head to north to Sacramento, Calif., for the Sacramento State Invitational at Valley Hi Golf Club. Further information regarding tournament format, times and admission will be provided on a later date.
