SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Fresno State senior Varvara Klyuchnikova finished outside of the top 12 in the high jump on Thursday afternoon at the NCAA West Preliminary Round at Hornet Stadium. Her top clearance of the competition came at 1.70m/5-7.
Â
Klyuchnikova opened the event clearing the bar on her first attempt at 1.65m/5-5. The senior then missed on her first attempt the 1.70m/5-7 before clearing on her second. She then was unable to clear the next height of 1.75m/5-8.75 on her three attempts. With 17 athletes surpassing that height between the two flights, the Bulldog was eliminated from advancing to the NCAA championships.
Â
Klyuchnikova will end her two-year Bulldog career as a two-time Mountain West medalist, earning silver at the 2019 outdoor championships and bronze at the 2019 indoor championships. She has twice competed in the NCAA West Preliminary Round.
