Bulldogs wrap up play at Coeur d'Alene Resort Collegiate Invitational

COEUR d'ALENE, ID. -- The Fresno State women's golf team finished sixth as the Coeur d'Alene Resort Collegiate Invitational wrapped up on Tuesday afternoon. Junior Brigitte Thibault led the way for the 'Dogs, placing sixth out of the 87-women playing field with a 4-over-par 217 (75-69-73).

"There were definitely some highlights from this week," said head coach Emily Loftin. "We had two players finish in the top 15. There were definitely some disappointing moments, but some good things as well and we are looking forward to a quick turnaround before we head to Missouri. This is a hard-working group and we are definitely going to see some growth from this event and we are looking forward to returning home for a couple of days of rest, then taking off and getting back after it."

As a team, the Bulldogs fired a 40-over-par 892 (304-287-301) for their sixth place finish, just three strokes behind North Dakota State who placed fifth. The Bulldogs earned a sixth place finish out of 16 competing teams at the tournament.Â

Thibault led the way for the 'Dogs while sophomore Harriet Lynch broke into the top 15 with an 8-over-par 221 (75-72-74) to finish T14th. This is the sophomore's third career top 15 finish.

Sophomore Delana Basanisi, who competed in the tournament as an individual, saw her best career finish at T28th. Basanisi led all individuals in the event with an 11-over-par 224 (73-73-78).

Freshman Jinyoung Yun advanced one spot to T38th through the final round on Tuesday. Yun fired a 13-over 226 (77-73-76) in her collegiate debut.

Senior Kristin Simonsen shot a 15-over-par 228 (77-73-78) to finish T49th, and sophomore Jessica Hall finish T64th with a 234 (79-76-79).

- Basanisi's 28th place finish is the best by a Bulldog individual since Dominika Gradecka competed as an individual and placed T26th at the Johnie Imes Invitational on Oct. 1-3, 2018.
- Thibault tied her third lowest single-round score (69) with her second round score.
- Lynch tied her second lowest single-round score (72).
- Basanisi set a new single round career-low (73) and a new three round career-low (224).
