'Dogs win 7-1 in Jumping Seat competition with Lynchburg

FRESNO, Calif. - The No. 5 Fresno State equestrian team defeated the University of Lynchburg in a Jumping Seat only competition on Saturday evening at the Student Horse Center. The meet does not go towards Fresno State's overall team record, but it does have an impact on the Bulldogs' individual event records and their rankings by the NCEA.

Fresno State swept the MOP honors on Saturday. Freshman Ana Bertozzi led the way in the Fences with a career-high 88 to her opponent's 80. Bertozzi has won four points in the Fences this spring with a 2-0 showing this weekend. Sophomore Cecily Hayes earned the Flat MOP with a 83-75 win in the event.

How it happened
The teams got the meet started with the Fences and Lynchburg picked up the first point with an 82-79 win, but the Bulldogs earned the next three to seal the win in the event. The Bulldogs' first point was earned by Hayes as she outscored her opponent 87-76. Hayes' score on Saturday tied her career-high in the event. Fellow classmate Alivia Hart earned her sixth consecutive win with an 82-68 win against Lynchburg. Bertozzi earned the point in the final draw to close out the event.

In the Flat, Fresno State swept the Hornets to close out the night. The Bulldog points were earned by Erica Rosinski, Brooke Nelson, Annastasia Anstead and Hayes. Nelson had the largest margin of victory in the event with a 71-54 ride against her Lynchburg opponent.Â
Fresno State went 7-2 in the Fences and 6-3 in the Flat this weekend.Â
