Fresno State sophomore forward Orlando Robinson delivered his seventh double-double of the season to lead the Bulldogs to a 67-64 road win on Saturday and complete a series sweep of Air Force.
USAFA, Colo. – The Fresno State men's basketball team completed a series road sweep of the Air Force Falcons by earning a 67-64 win on Saturday afternoon at Clune Arena.
Fresno State (9-7, 7-7 Mountain West) shot and defended its way to a 14-point first-half lead by attacking the paint and causing havoc distributing passing lanes, especially in transition.
With the win, the Bulldogs have moved into sole possession of sixth place in the Mountain West standings.
Fresno State sophomore forward Orlando Robinson was in attack-mode early and often en route to a game-high 21 points and 11 rebounds to secure his seventh double-double of the season (12th of his Bulldog career).
Isaiah Hill, Braxton Meah and Deon Stroud each added 10 points for the Bulldogs, who will next host the San Diego State Aztecs on Thursday and Saturday at the Save Mart Center.
Quotes:
Justin Hutson, Fresno State head coach
On Orlando Robinson…
"We're talking a lot, to all the guys. When you're on the road for this long, I mean, you're meeting in the hotel individually, you're watching film together. We had a pretty good practice yesterday. To tell you the truth, a lot of the talks are mentality, starting with your mentality. But some of it also was film work to try to understand where you can get the ball in a matchup zone, what you can do better reading off your teammates. We're still teaching, and I thought he responded well."
On scoring inside and Junior Ballard…
"We worked a little bit more on how to get the ball inside in practice. It was a little bit more of a review, and we were able to watch the film and say 'Here's where we can attack them.' Our guards did a good job of getting it to them inside and our bigs did a good job of finishing. A credit to Junior (Ballard) - he still affected winning. With the threes that he made in the first game and the way he shot the ball they gave him a little more attention and in their zone, he wasn't open tonight. It might be his night next time, but he didn't pout. He was very mature and he affected winning on the defensive end."
