Fresno State completes series sweep of Sacramento State

FRESNO, Calif. – The Fresno State softball team completed the series sweep over Sacramento State, shutting out the Hornets 4-0 Sunday afternoon in Margie Wright Diamond.
The Bulldogs (6-5) were dominant at the plate and in the circle throughout the series. Fresno State shutout Sacramento State in all three games, outscoring the Hornets 20-0. The Bulldogs tallied 29 hits for a team batting average of .408. Hailey Dolcini and Danielle lung combined for 29 strikeouts, and only allowed six hits.
How it happened – Senior Kaitlyn Jennings had another stellar game at the plate for the 'Dogs going 2-for-3 with two runs and a triple. Dolcini pitched a complete game shutout while dealing 11 strikeouts.
Fresno State didn't waste any time getting on the scoreboard in the first inning. Jennings took a base after getting hit by the pitch, and Kelcey Carrasco followed with a double down the right-field line to put runners in scoring position. Alesia Denby sent up a sacrifice fly, giving the Bulldogs a 1-0 lead.
The Bulldogs added to their lead in the third inning. Jennings hit a leadoff triple to right-center. Hayleigh Galvan capitalized with a sacrifice fly to center field, bringing another run across the plate. Fresno State carried the momentum into the fourth inning, Schuylar Broussard opened the inning with shot to left field for a standup double. Lexie Webb followed with a single through the right side, moving Broussard to third, and Adrianna Noriega hit a sacrifice fly to bring another run home for a 3-0 lead through four innings.

Fresno State's fourth and final run came off the bat of Noriega, as she smashed the first home run of her career over the center field fence.

What's next – Fresno State will go on the road for the Judi Garman Classic March 5-6. The Bulldogs will face host CSUF in a doubleheader on Friday before finishing the weekend against LMU on Saturday.
