Bulldogs wrap up play in Tucson

TUCSON, Ariz. - The Fresno State women's golf team earned an 11th place finish at the MountainView Collegiate at The Preserve Golf Club this weekend (Fri.-Sun.). Fresno State shot a 41-over-par 905 (300-299-306) at the Kansas State-hosted tournament.Â
Fresno State was led by juniors Jessica Hall and Harriet Lynch who tied for 26th in the tournament. Hall, who had her lowest two-round total (144) at the conclusion of Saturday's round, had a 5-over-par 77 on Sunday to finish with a +5 221 (72-72-77). Lynch had her second-straight 74 on Sunday to finish with her 221 (73-74-74). The duo led the Bulldogs with five birdies apiece.Â
The freshman pair of Lory Paradis and Lydia Volkmer were next in the Bulldog leaderboard. Paradis finished tied for 53rd with a 15-over-par 231 (77-76-78). Volkmer tied her lowest round of the event on Sunday, and placed 56th with a 232 (78-77-77).Â
Senior Kristin Simonsen finished 66th with a 26-over-par 242 (80-77-85).Â
Oklahoma State had a comeback round on Sunday to win the tournament with a 20-under-par 844. OSU's Maja Stark was the tournament's individual winner with a 11-under 205 (69-67-69).Â
Notable
- Jessica Hall had her third and fourth par or better round of the season this weekend (72, round one and two).
- Hall and Harriet Lynch tied for the team-high with five birdies each.Â
- Lynch had her best finish since The Gold Rush (Feb. 22-23).
- Fresno State faced four top-30 teams in this tournament, including two in the top 10 in No. 8 Baylor and No. 9 Oklahoma State.
- Fresno State saw its 13-tournament streak of top 10 finishes snapped on Sunday.Â
Up Next - The Bulldogs have one tournament between them and their home-hosted Fresno State Classic. Fresno State will travel to Argyle, Texas on Mar. 28-29 for The Bruzzy, hosted by the University of North Texas, at the Lantana Golf Club. The Fresno State Classic is scheduled for April 12-13 at Copper River Country Club.Â
