FRESNO, Calif. – The Fresno State softball team earned third straight Mountain West series win, defeating New Mexico in both games of its doubleheader on Friday evening in Margie Wright Diamond. The Bulldogs (19-7, 7-1 MW) showed both defensive and offensive dominance, posting a 6-0 shutout over the Lobos (2-25, 1-4 MW) in game one before earning a 9-1 run rule victory in game two.
Hailey Dolcini posted her third no-hitter of the season and chalked a new career-high with 18 strikeouts. Dolcini's 18 strikeouts ties the program record for most strikeouts in a 7-inning game, set by Michelle Moses in 2010. In game two, Dariana Orme had a solid performance in the circle, holding the Lobos to one run while recording three strikeouts.
Seniors Hayleigh Galvan and Kaitlyn Jennings both went 3-for-5 at the plate, combining for five RBIs on the day.
Game One – Dolcini was electric in the circle, retiring 18 out of 21 batters by strikeout.
Fresno State jumped out to an early led in the bottom of the first inning. Jennings and Galvan belted back-to-back singles to get the offense going. Kelcey Carrasco reached on a throwing error by the pitcher, sending Jennings home to plate the first run of the game. Adriana Noriega gave the Bulldogs a 2-0 lead with an RBI groundout to end the inning.
The Bulldogs tacked on two more runs in the bottom of the fourth inning Once again the inning was opened with back-to-back singles, and a sacrifice bunt moved the runners into scoring positions. Jennings came in clutch with a two-RBI single up the middle to extend the Bulldogs lead 4-0 through four innings.
Fresno State put its final two runs on the board in the bottom of the fifth inning. Noriega took first base after being hit by the pitch and Keahiele Mattson sent her home with an RBI double to left field. Â Alesia Denby posted the final hit of the game with another RBI double to left field.
The Bulldogs earned their 10th shutout of the season.

Game Two – The first inning of game two mirrored the first inning of game one, with the Bulldogs posting two runs. Back-to-back hit by pitches and a walk would load the bases. An RBI groundout from Noriega and a single from Vanessa Hernandez would bat in the runs.
Fresno State tallied a run in second to take a 3-0 lead over New Mexico. The Lobos recorded their first run of the game in the fourth inning, but the Bulldogs would match it with a run of their own in the bottom of the frame.
The game was busted open by the 'Dogs in the sixth inning. Fresno State logged three-straight singles to start the inning, plating one run and a throwing error on the play would allow another run to cross home plate. Hernandez sent up a sacrifice fly for the third run of the inning. Fresno State loaded the bases after drawing a walk and being hit by another pitch. Galvan ended the game in walk-off fashion with a two-RBI double to center field.
