'Dogs Summer Baseball Update No. 2

FRESNO, Calif. -Â The Diamond 'Dogs continue to excel in summer league play with 11 'Dogs in action in leagues around the country.
Andrew Kachel, Infielder, Santa Barbara Foresters
Kachel has played in 20 games this summer hitting an impressive .384 from the plate tallying 10 extra-base knocks, including eight doubles.
The first-team All-MW selection has totaled 28 hits, drove in 14 RBI and scored 27 runs while drawing 19 walks. Kachel has a base hit in nine of his last 10 games and in 18 of 20 games this summer.
On July 14, Kachel got the start at second base for the South Team in the CCL Showcase Game as the South defeated the North, 6-2 at the MLB Academy in Compton.
The Foresters sit 18-7 on the season with an 11-7 mark in California Collegiate League play sitting second in the South Division.
Santa Barbara has 12 regular season games remaining with its regular season finale set for Aug. 1 vs. the OC Riptide. The CCL State Championship is slated for Aug. 4-6 in Lincoln, Calif.
Mason Grotto, Infielder, San Luis Obispo Blues
Grotto has played in 31 contests for the Blues hitting an outstanding .386 with 49 hits in 127 at-bats and has registered 10 doubles, one triple and three home runs.
The Clovis native has driven in 35 RBI, scored 35 runs and has four three-hit games this summer with 16 multi-hit games.
He got the start for the North Team at first base in the CCL Showcase Game on July 14.
The Blues wrap up the regular season on Aug. 1 against the MLB Academy Barons with the CCL State Championship slated for Aug. 4-6 in Lincoln, Calif.
Bologna joined Grotto on the San Luis Obispo Blues on June 25 and has appeared in nine games this summer with five hits, including one double and a home run.

Ivan Luna, Outfielder, Portland Pickles
Luna has appeared in 25 games this summer for the Pickles hitting .205 with 17 hits, including three doubles & three home runs, driven in 15 RBI, scored 15 runs and has drawn 22 walks.
The Oceanside native has a hit in 14 games and registered a double, home run and four RBI in a 13-5 win at the Corvallis Knights on July 17.
The Pickles close out the regular season on Aug. 12 with the West Coast Playoffs set to start on Aug. 13.
Ben Newton, Infielder, Crystal Lake Cardinals
Newton is hitting .337 this summer in 30 games with 32 hits for the Cardinals adding a team-leading 40 runs scored and 21 stolen bases.
The Albany, Calif. native will play in the Metro Collegiate League All-Star Game on Wednesday taking on the Chicago Suburban League.
The Cardinals are 29-8-1 and end the regular season on Aug. 3 against the Windy City Prospects with the Metro Tournament set for Aug. 5-8.
Tommy Hopfe, Catcher, Crystal Lake Cardinals
Hopfe has played in 14 games for the Cardinals this summer seeing action as an outfielder, first baseman and catcher while hitting .341 from the plate.
He has scored nine runs and drove in 16 RBI while adding three extra-base knocks.
The Cardinals are 29-8-1 and end the regular season on Aug. 3 against the Windy City Prospects with the Metro Tournament set for Aug. 5-8.
Marco Pirruccello, Infielder, Alaska Goldpanners
Pirruccello has played in 24 games for the Goldpanners this summer hitting .299 from the plate with 26 hits, including two doubles, two triples and a home run.
The Rocklin native has scored 18 runs, driven in 22Â RBI and has a hit in 18 games with six multi-hit contests.
In a 4-0 win over the Redmond Dudes on July 4, Pirruccello went 1-for-3 with two runs scored, a walk and two stolen bases.
The Goldpanners close out the regular season on Aug. 4 at the Humboldt Crabs before the West Coast World Series is scheduled for Aug. 7-13.
Blake Wink, Infielder, Anchorage Glacier Pilots
Wink has played in 27 games for the Glacier Pilots this summer hitting .270 from the dish with 27 hits, including three doubles, one triple, six RBI and 12 runs scored.
The Yorba Linda native has a base knock in 20 contests and had a base hit in four straight games from July 9-17.
The Pilots sit 15-13 on the summer sitting third in the Alaska Baseball League and close out the regular season on July 28 against the Peninsula Oilers.Â
Josh Lauck, Infielder, Humboldt Crabs
Lauck has played in 17 games for the Crabs this summer hitting .370 with 20 hits to go along with 22 RBI, 20 runs scored and has drawn nine walks.
With a hit in 13 games, the Saratoga, Calif. native had a hit in seven straight games from June 29 through July 10 and went 2-for-4 with a home run and four RBI in a 17-9 win over the Petaluma Leghorns.
The Crabs are 26-6 on the season and wrap up the regular season on Aug. 8 against the Sacramento Yankees.
Will Springer, Pitcher, Humboldt Crabs
Springer has appeared in 10 games for the Crabs with three starts and has posted a 3-1 record in 31.0 innings
He currently is tied for a team-leading 42 strikeouts while walking only five and has posted a 2.61 ERA.
The Hanford native earned wins in his last two starts tossing six innings in each game striking out 11 against the Perth Heat on July 6 and 10 against the Payson Cowboys on July 13.
The Crabs are 26-6 on the season and wrap up the regular season on Aug. 8 against the Sacramento Yankees.
Tyler Davis, Catcher, Western Nebraska Pioneers
Davis has played in 32 games for the Western Nebraska Pioneers in the Expedition League this summer hitting .274 from the plate adding five doubles, three home runs, driven in 18 RBI, scored 30 runs and stolen 12 bases.
The Fresno native has collected a hit in 21 games with seven multi-hit games and earned a spot in the Expedition League All-Star Game on Tuesday representing the Clark Division.
The Pioneers are 9-6 in the second half and close out the regular season on Aug. 7 against the Casper Horseheads.
Western Nebraska clinched a spot in the Expedition League playoffs set to start Aug. 9 by winning the first half of the season with a 23-8 mark.
