Championships fuel rise in Director’s Cup

Fresno State Athletics continues to rise in the Learfield Directors’ Cup Division I Standings.
Highlights
- For the 2020-21 season, Fresno State Athletics earned its best finish in the Learfield Directors' Cup in a decade.
- This was the third straight year the Bulldogs rose in the national standings.
- Fresno State was one of three Mountain West programs to finish in the Top 100 of NCAA Division I.
- In 2021, Fresno State won conference championships and made team NCAA Tournament appearances in softball and water polo.
CLEVELAND – Fresno State Athletics continues to rise with a top three finish among Mountain West institutions in the 2020-21 Learfield Directors' Cup Division I Final Standings.
This is the third straight year that the Bulldogs' collective accomplishments in competition have produced a better finish than the year before in the Learfield Directors' Cup final standings.
As a department, Fresno State finished 95th out of more than 350 NCAA Division I programs, which marks the Bulldogs' highest ranking in the past decade.
For Fresno State, the rise was highlighted by conference championships and NCAA Tournament appearances by softball and water polo, as well as standout individual performances in the NCAA Championships by several Bulldog student-athletes.
The Learfield IMG College Directors' Cup was developed as a joint effort between the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) and USA Today. Points are awarded based on each institution's finish in NCAA Championships. Complete standings and the scoring structure can be found on NACDA's website at www.directorscup.org.
