’Dogs beat UNLV in Las Vegas

Fresno State improved to 12-4 on the season – its best start in 15 years – by defeating UNLV on the road.
LAS VEGAS – The Fresno State men's basketball team defeated the UNLV Runnin' Rebels 73-68 on Friday night at the Thomas & Mack Center.
Fresno State (12-4, 2-1 Mountain West) led for more than 31 of the game's 40 minutes – headlined by another dominant performance from Orlando Robinson, who finished with 24 points and 11 rebounds for his 20th career double-double.
The Bulldogs made nearly 61 percent of its field goal attempts in the second half to dispatch UNLV (9-7, 1-2 MW) with gritty defense, clutch shots and poise when it was needed.
Anthony Holland added 15 points with five rebounds on his 21st birthday and Isaiah Hill also reached double figures with 10 points, which included two big free throws in the final minute, for Fresno State.
How it happened: Robinson was in attack-mode early and often – scoring the first six points of the game and brought energy and execution on both ends of the floor.
The Bulldogs used a 21-5 run to close the first half, which was punctuated with Deon Stroud scoring the final six points of the half to give Fresno State a 33-23 halftime lead over the Runnin' Rebels.
Fresno State led by as many 14 points early in the second half and withstood UNLV's comeback bid while never giving up the lead down the stretch.
With a 32-20 advantage in the paint and 10-3 edge in second chance scoring, the 'Dogs made exactly 50 percent of its field goal attempts (25-for-50) and converted 81 percent of its free throw attempts (17-for-21).
