Pair of Bulldogs earn MW weekly honors

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Fresno State senior diver Silvia Alessio was named the Mountain West Diver of the Week and freshman Samantha Arredondo earned Mountain West Freshman of the Week honors, the conference announced on Tuesday.
Alessio, a native of Trieste, Italy, has continued her hot start to the season winning both the 1-Meter (296.70) and 3-Meter (307.50) diving last Friday in the 'Dogs dual wins over Fresno Pacific and Pacific and surpassed zone qualifiers for both events.
Hailing from Tempe, Ariz., Arredondo has gotten off to a fast start as a Bulldog winning the 100 Breast (1:05.41), 200 Breast (2:22.44) and 200 IM (2:07.73) against the Sunbirds and Tigers clocking season best times in all three events.
The Bulldogs return to the pool on Saturday heading to Nevada for a dual at 11 a.m. PT.
