LOGAN, Utah - The Fresno State volleyball team fell in four sets at Utah State on Saturday morning at the Estes Center.
Fresno State (6-12, 0-6 MW) saw set scores of 12-25, 23-25, 25-23, 22-25 to Utah State (12-5, 4-2 MW).
How It Happened
The opening set found the Aggies using a 10-0 run to break open a 10-10 draw. An attack error by Utah State broke up the run, but only a kill by Addison Haluska turned out to be the lone other point of the set for the 'Dogs.
The second set saw the 'Dogs get out to a 13-9 lead after a kill by Maja Malczewska and extended it to five at 16-11 after another kill by Malczewska. An Aggie kill tied the set at 19 apiece with ties in the set at 21 and 22 on a pair of kills from Haluska. USU nabbed three of the final four points of the set to win by a pair.
The third set saw ties at 12, 14, 15, 16, 17, 19 & 21 before getting kills by Olivia Keller and Kasey Purry for a 23-21 lead. The set closed out with a block and kill by Lauren Sabbatini to extend the match to a fourth set.
Unfortunately, the Aggies closed out the match in the fourth set. A kill by Keller tied the set at 13 and kills by Malczewska and another one by Keller extended the 'Dogs lead to 15-13. A service ace by USU tied the set at 18 to force a Bulldog timeout and the Aggies closed out the set on a 7-4 run to close out the match.
