'Dogs drop season finale at Nevada

RENO, Nev. - The Fresno State volleyball team dropped its season finale in four sets at Nevada on Saturday afternoon at Virginia Street Gym.
Fresno State (7-23, 1-17 MW) saw set scores of 20-25, 25-22, 20-25, 16-25 to Nevada (14-15, 8-10 MW).
How It Happened
The opening set saw the Wolf Pack race out to a 10-2 start extending it to 11 twice. A quick 4-0 run for the 'Dogs that saw a pair of service aces by Grace Doyle and two attack errors by the Wolf Pack brought the Bulldogs back within five at 18-13. A kill from Olivia Keller brought the 'Dogs within four at 24-20 with a Bulldog attack error giving Nevada the opening set.
The 'Dogs evened the match with a win in the second set. A service ace by Lauren Sabbatini knotted the set at 15 and a kill by Brooke Cowie and service ace by Sydney Gazzaniga pushed the 'Dogs in front, 20-17. A kill by Kasey Purry gave the Bulldogs match point and after a pair of points for Nevada, a kill by Doyle sealed the set win.
A close third set saw the 'Dogs keep pace throughout with a kill by Ella Rud bringing the Bulldogs within one at 21-20, but Nevada reeled off the final four points of the set to take a 2-1 lead in the match.
The fourth set saw the Wolf Pack get out to a 16-9 lead extending it to nine at 21-12 and they went on for the nine-point set win to seal the match.

- Rud led the Bulldogs with 15 kills as she finishes the season leading the 'Dogs in kills in 23 of 30 matches.
- Cowie posted her fifth double-double of the season finishing with 42 assists and 10 digs.
- Kasey Purry finishes the season with 120 block assists for the fourth-most in a single season in program history.
