'Dogs top Warriors in exhibition action

FRESNO, Calif. - The Fresno State men's basketball team got the 2022-23 season underway on Wednesday evening with a 69-62 exhibition victory over Stanislaus State at the Save Mart Center.
Led by 22 points from senior guard Isaiah Hill along with 17 more from senior newcomer Isaih Moore, the Bulldogs overcame a slow first half to score 45 second-half points and pull ahead at the end of the second half to secure the seven-point victory.
How It Happened
Getting out to a 6-6 draw at the first media timeout, the 'Dogs came out of the break on a 6-0 run powered by a trio of layups from Donavan Yap, Eduardo Andre and Leo Colimerio.
A jumper and three-pointer by the Warriors cut the 'Dogs lead to one at 12-11, but five quick points from the Bulldogs on a Jemarl Baker layup and free throw and a slam dunk by Moore pushed Fresno State in front, 17-11.
A putback layup from Anthony Holland and a free throw by Moore gave the 'Dogs a 20-15 advantage, but a 7-2 run by the Warriors tied the contest at 22 with a minute to play in the opening half.
A free throw by Moore, giving him 10 points in the opening 20 minutes, and a free throw by Yap closed out the scoring for the Bulldogs in the first half as they took a 24-22 lead to the break.
The Warriors got the second half underway with a 13-6 run to take a 35-30 lead. The 'Dogs clawed their way back with a 7-0 run before a quick 5-0 run by Stanislaus State put the visitors up three at 40-37.
Forced to take a timeout, Yap drilled a three-pointer to lock up the game at 40.
A three-pointer by Hill pushed the 'Dogs in front by five, 50-45 and three more from downtown and a layup from the senior guard from Bakersfield extended the Bulldogs lead to 66-58 and the Bulldogs went on to win by a final score of 69-62.
