Manganello wins first tournament at Saint Mary's Invitational

PEBBLE BEACH, Calif. – With an eagle on 18, Matthew Manganello not only moved back to under par for the third straight day at Poppy Hills Golf Club, his final putt of the 54-hole tournament was the difference in claiming his first collegiate win. The Fresno State junior finished the week at 7-under par, one shot ahead of San Diego's David Rauch.
Even through much of the back nine, Mangnello took a bogey on No. 16 that dropped him to second. It was only temporary as Rauch, playing a few holes behind the Bulldog, bogeyed 13, 14 and 16. The bogey on 16 and Manganello's eagle at 18 flipped the two individuals on the leaderboard.
Fresno State finished seventh overall at 21-over par (282-296-295—873).
Notes
Fresno State will be off until Feb. 16 when the 'Dogs open the spring portion of its schedule at the John Burns Intercollegiate in Lihue, Hawai'i.

- The win was the first by a Bulldog since Matthew Sutherland on April 12, 2021 (El Macero Classic).
