'Dogs finish Demarini Invitational

STANFORD, Calif. –  The Fresno State softball team fell to Stanford in the final game of the 2022 Demarini Invitational on Sunday afternoon.
Kacey Hvitved and Alesia Denby logged one a hit apiece for the Bulldogs. Sophomore Cassidy West played a majority of the innings in the circle for Fresno State.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Stanford loaded the bases without an out in the first inning. West entered the game and retired the next three batters, two by strikeout, to keep the game scoreless.
Hvitved recorded the first hit of the game with a double to right field. Alesia Denby followed with a single to put runners on the corners. Denby stole second during the next at bat to put two runners in scoring position. The Cardinal finished the inning with a strikeout and ground out to end the inning.
Stanford took a 5-0 lead over the next two innings. The Bulldogs held the Stanford scoreless for the next inning, but the Cardinal would plate five more to take the game 5-0 after five innings.
