'Dogs take 3rd at MW Championship

RANCHO MIRAGE, Calif. - The Fresno State women's golf team placed third at the 2022 Mountain West Championship, played at Mission Hills Country Club this week. The 'Dogs tied their best finish at the conference tournament, and had their best team finish at the MW Championship event since 2016.
Fresno State took third place behind No. 5 San Jose State (860) and New Mexico (890). The Bulldogs finished one stroke behind New Mexico with a 891 (291-303-297).
Fresno State was led in the tournament by Harriet Lynch, who had a stellar day on Wednesday to jump up the leaderboard. Lynch used a 1-under-par 71 on Wednesday to finish tied for 7th in the championship event. Her T7th finish is a personal best for the native of Essex, England at the Mountain West Championship. Lynch finished with a 221 (74-76-71).
Jinyoung Yun broke into the Top 20, finishing with a 226 (74-78-74), and bouncing back after a high round on Tuesday. Yun was T18th in the championship.
Senior Jessica Hall finished alone in 25th after a tough outing in round three. Hall was steady shooting in the opening rounds of the tournament, shooting 71 and 75 in the opening rounds, respectively. A third round score of 82 dropped her in the leaderboards, finishing 25th with a 228.
Participating in her first MW championship as a Bulldog, Nicola Kaminski T29th with a 230 (72-83-75). Freshman Yu Shang was T35th with a 232 (81-74-77). Shang was the only golfer in the field to shoot an eagle in the tournament, making it on the second hole of Tuesday's round.
This season, Fresno State earned six Top 5 finishes as a team, tying for its second most Top 5 team finishes in a season in program history.
