Bulldogs edged in MW quarters, 4-3

Fresno State built a 3-1 lead before falling to Nevada in the quarterfinals of the 2022 Mountain West Women’s Tennis Championships.
TUCSON, Ariz. – The top-seeded Fresno State women's tennis team lost 4-3 to the eighth-seeded Nevada Wolf Pack in the quarterfinals of the 2022 Mountain West Championships at El Conquistador Tennis Center.

The loss snapped a 12-match winning streak by No. 65 Fresno State (20-4), who won the outright 2022 MW regular season championship with a perfect 10-0 record in league play.
How it happened: Fresno State earned the doubles point with wins at No. 1 and No. 3 doubles and later took a 2-0 lead when Carolina Piferi cruised to her 15th straight singles victory with a 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 6 singles.

After Nevada answered by grabbing a point at No. 5 singles, 2022 MW Player of the Year Pang Jittakoat closed out a straight set triumph at the top court to give the Bulldogs a 3-1 advantage before the Wolf Pack rallied for the upset.

- As a team, Fresno State improved to 35-27 overall in doubles (17-6 overall at No. 1 doubles).
- In 2022, Fresno State has been ranked in the ITA's Top 75 in each of the last nine weeks, including a high of a No. 51 national ranking, and won the outright MW regular season championship.
- Fresno State was the No. 1 seed for the fourth time in program history (2014, 2015 & 2016).
- This was the seventh time in now eight appearances that the Bulldogs were a top three seed.
- Fresno State dropped to 9-6 all-time in MW tournament contests.
- With a 20-4 overall record, this was Fresno State's 11th 20-win in program history and first since 2009.
- Fresno State's Pang Jittakoat and Matilde Magrini improved to 11-3 overall when playing together at No. 1 doubles (8-3 against MW opponents).
- Fresno State's Pang Jittakoat improved to 18-3 in singles matches this season (16-3 at No. 1 singles) and now owns a 12-match singles winning streak (all 12 in straight sets at the top position).
- Fresno State's Carolina Piferi improved to 17-1 in singles matches this season (13-0 at No. 6 singles) and now owns a 14-match singles winning streak.
