’Dogs finish 6th in Cowboy Classic

Fresno State’s Matthew Sutherland finished in a tie for 11th in the 128-player field in Arizona.
CHANDLER, Ariz. – The Fresno State men's golf team finished in sixth place in the 2022 Wyoming Cowboy Classic at Whirlwind Golf Club in Chandler, Ariz.
Fresno State improved in each of the three rounds (286-284-280 = 850, -14) in the 25-team event.
In the individual competition, Matthew Sutherland tied for 11th (-8) in another strong performance, which included a 6-under-par 66 in the second round.
Matthew Manganello was also in red figures for the Bulldogs as he tied for 26th at 2-under-par in the 54-hole tournament.
Fresno State will next compete in the El Macero Classic, which Sutherland won last season, in just over two weeks from April 20-22 in Davis, Calif., in the Bulldogs' final event before heading to Washington later this month for the Mountain West Championships.
