FRESNO, Calif. – The Fresno State women's basketball program brought in its third addition of the spring, signing graduate transfer Amaya West out of Nevada.
"Amaya is versatile offensively and a lock down defensive player that can guard multiple positions," Fresno State head coach Jaime White said. "She brings significant valuable experience and is a proven scorer in the Mountain West. We are thrilled that she has decided to spend her last year on the court at Fresno State in a Bulldog uniform."
In her four-year career, the 5-foot-10 West played in 109 games with 60 starts. Forty-one of those starts came during the Mesa, Ariz. product's last two years in Reno where she shot 40.5 percent from the field and averaged 7.9 points. She also averaged 4.1 rebounds in 26.4 minutes per game.
While West's offensive usage decreased from her junior year (9.8 ppg on 9.2 fga) to her senior year (6.8 ppg on 6.3 fga), her efficiency increased. West converted at a career-best 42.0 percent clip from the field last season.
Scoring 633 career points, West has had 25-double figure performances with 20 of those coming in the last two seasons. Last year, she scored a season-high 16 against the Bulldogs on Feb. 14 and has career high of 18 that came against Wyoming on Jan. 24, 2021.
West rejoins former teammate Imani Lacy. The two played together during the 2018-19 and 2019-20 seasons at Nevada.
