Fresno State Athletics has delivered strong academic marks throughout its programs in recent years.
INDIANAPOLIS – 10 Fresno State athletic programs earned perfect 1,000 Academic Progress Rate scores for the 2020-21 academic year, the NCAA announced on Tuesday.
The teams – men's cross country, men's golf, men's track and field, women's basketball, women's cross country, women's golf, women's swimming and diving, women's tennis, women's track and field and women's volleyball – were recognized by the NCAA in the public release of the APR data after a one-year hiatus due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.
In addition to the 10 perfect single year scores for 2020-21, four of those programs – men's cross country, men's golf, women's golf and women's tennis – also maintained perfect marks in the multiyear rate, which represents data submitted for the 2017-18, 2018-19, 2019-20 and 2020-21 academic years.
Each academic year, every Division I sports team across the country calculates its APR using a simple and consistent formula. Each term, scholarship student-athletes can earn one point for remaining eligible and one point for staying in school or graduating.
All of Fresno State's athletic programs were at least 30 points higher than the minimum APR academic standard in the multiyear rate.
