'Dogs sweep Rebels out of Fresno

FRESNO, Calif. – The Fresno State volleyball team secured its second sweep of the season with a 3-0 victory over reigning regular-season champion UNLV on Saturday afternoon at the Save Mart Center.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Fresno State took an early lead over UNLV in the opening set, with 13 kills coming from the Bulldogs. UNLV briefly took a 19-18 lead over the 'Dogs, but a Fresno State timeout allowed the Bulldogs to regroup and win the set 25-22 with a kill from Addison Haluska to seal the deal.
The Bulldogs had a relentless second set and led by as much as 12 points and outkilling the Rebels 13-4. Fresno State had a 15-4 lead over UNLV to trigger the Rebels' final timeout. Dionii Fraga landed three consecutive service aces to help the Bulldogs secure a 25-13 set win.
The 'Dogs kept the good vibes going through the third set, taking a 14-8 lead at UNLV's first time out. Fresno State followed with eight kills and a pair of service aces for a 25-19 set win and 3-0 overall victory.

The Bulldogs are hitting the road to face Colorado State on Thursday at 6 p.m. PT, streamed live on the Mountain West Network.

- Fresno State achieved its first home sweep of the year in front of a season-high crowd of 983 members of the Red Wave.
- Dionii Fraga tallied four service aces, a career-high, leading the team in the category on her own for the first time this season.
- Sophomore Addison Haluska surpassed the 400-career kill milestone with nine on the day and 409 total.
- Junior Brooke Cowie earned her 14th double-double of the season with 24 assists and 13 kills today. She is one assist away from the 700 career assists mark.
- As a team the Bulldogs had their second highest attack percentage at .275.
- Fresno State had 10 aces on the day, the second highest this year.
